Blessed is he who is wise in God ....

The Christian struggle is glorious, for the prize is not something ephemeral, but it is eternal glory up in heaven! 

Blessed is he who is wise in God, for no account will be demanded from him, and he will not find himself in a difficult position when God calls him to give an account for his time on earth. We waste time with no regret. 

When we leave this world, we shall realize the damage we have suffered by letting time escape from us. The days are passing with no reckoning. Realizing this saves us, even if it is only during the final days of our life.

Όσοι λένε την ευχή του Ιησού (Κύριε Ιησού Χριστέ ελέησόν με),....

Ο Γέροντας Εφραίμ ο Φιλοθεΐτης που τώρα είναι στην Αριζόνα, σε Αγιορείτη που τον επισκέφθηκε μαζί με μια ομάδα λαϊκών, όταν ρωτήθηκε για τα μέλλοντα να συμβούν, έδειξε την γροθιά του και είπε: Όσοι λένε την ευχή του Ιησού (Κύριε Ιησού Χριστέ ελέησόν με), αυτοί θα ξεπεράσουν όσα έρχονται με τη βοήθεια του Θεού.

Πρέπει να υπομένη ο ένας τις αδυναμίες του άλλου.

Πρέπει να υπομένη ο ένας τις αδυναμίες του άλλου. Ποιός είναι τέλειος; ποιός μπορεί να καυχηθή, ότι τήρησε την καρδιά του αμόλυντη! άρα είμεθα όλοι άρρωστοι, και όποιος κατακρίνει τον αδελφό του, δεν αισθάνεται ότι είναι άρρωστος· διότι ο άρρωστος τον άρρωστο δεν τον κατακρίνει.

Κάθε νύκτα κάμε κριτικήν το πώς διήλθες την ημέραν...

Κάθε νύκτα κάμε κριτικήν το πώς διήλθες την ημέραν, και το πρωϊ, πως επέρασεν η νύκτα, ώστε να ηξεύρης τι ταμείον έχει η ψυχή σου, και αν ζημίαν οίδας, προσπάθησον να την ανακαλέσης δια της προσοχής και βίας. Αν δε αύξησιν, δόξαζε τον αφανή αρωγόν σου, τον Θεόν.
 

Μην αφήσης τον έλεγχον της συνειδήσεώς σου επί πολύ, αλλά συντόμως δίδε ό,τι ζητεί, μήπως σε οδηγήση εις τον κριτήν και εις την φυλακήν. Ζητεί το συνειδός την επιμέλειαν και την επανάκτησιν του κανόνος και της προσευχής; Δώσε τα και ιδού απηλλάγης της οδού προς τον κριτήν. 

 

Μην εξασθενήσης την σωτήριον φωνήν της συνειδήσεως εν τη καταφρονήσει αυτής, διότι θα μεταμεληθής εις το ύστερον χωρίς όφελος.

Ας εξομολογούμεθα συχνά με ευλάβειαν και καθαράν συνείδησιν.

Να τηρώμεν τας εντολάς του πνευματικού. Να προσευχώμεθα αδειαλείπτως. 
Να έχωμεν την μνήμην θανάτου και δυνατός ο Θεός να μας αξιώση της άλλης ζωής κοντά Του,  δια να συγχαίρωμεν με τους αγίους, εις την θριαμβεύουσαν Εκκλησίαν.

He who bears his cross for the love of Christ will be raised by the Lord on the last day.

 About the grief that torments you, I have told you many times that it is your cross which our Jesus has given to you so that you may become an imitator of Him and not be a stranger to His love. 

For whoever loves Him sincerely follows Him not only to Mount Tabor, where the glory of His divinity appeared (in other words, not only at the time of His visitation through His sweet grace and joy ), but follows Him also on the uphill climb to Golgotha and His Crucifixion (in other words, also in the absence of His grace and in sorrowful occurrences, which produce distress, pain, despair, perplexity, labor, and sweat). 

Precisely then is the inner man tested and it is revealed what he is: counterfeit or true, skilled or unskilled, captain or sailor. Precisely then are our intentions tested, and he who is courageous and patient is rewarded internally by the visitation of God through the increase of grace. 

In this manner, the Christian is trained in the spiritual struggle until he reaches the end and finds rest. Struggle philosophically; carry your cross with patience and joy until you bring it to the Place of the Skull, to the tomb, so that our Jesus may give you the resurrection! 

He who bears his cross for the love of Christ will be raised by the Lord on the last day. How long will our life be? The time of our death is unknown, whereas patience will be rewarded eternally. This cross of grief you are bearing has already given you very much, and how much more it will give you! And yet you do not see this, for God wisely hides it from you for your benefit. Entreat God continuously to give you patience, and thank Him with knowledge; then you will be able to endure joyfully, awaiting your salvation through these afflictions.

Ο Γέροντας Εφραίμ Φιλοθεΐτης για τον Γέροντά του, τον Ιωσήφ Ησυχαστή

Μας έλεγε ότι: «όταν θέλει κανείς να πληροφορηθεί το θέλημα του Θεού (στην περίπτωση που δεν μπορεί να επικοινωνήσει με τον Πνευματικό του), να αφήσει τελείως τις δικές του σκέψεις και να προσευχηθεί τρεις φορές, και όπου κλείνει η καρδιά του, εκείνο να κάνει και θα είναι κατά Θεόν. Αλλά εκείνοι, που έχουν περισσότερη πρόοδο και παρρησία στην προσευχή τους, ακούουν ευκρινέστερα την πληροφορία και ενίοτε η πληροφορία σχηματίζεται με φωνή ή οπτασία». Συνήθως έτσι πληροφορείται ο Γέροντας.

Everything will pass and will end as if had never existed

“Everything will pass and will end as if had never existed, whereas works done in God will remain with the soul that worked them so that the worker may reap eternal life from them. Blessed are the spiritual philosophers of God, who give away transient things and store up eternal things, so that when they depart, they will find their treasures in God’s treasury with accrued interest. Blessed are they who clean their hearts from the weeds of sin and cultivate the good seed, for the time will come for them to reap sheaves of eternal life! Blessed are they who sow tears with spiritual fasting, that is, always hungering and thirsting for good works, for they will reap eternal joy!”
